Spam is an unfortunate part of our digital lives whether it comes through emails or blog comments. I’ve often thought about doing something creative with it. Others have been more motivated than me, with lots of people writing poetry based on spam. I like Linzie Hunter’s take. Her Spam One-liners is a series of experiments with hand lettering from spam subject lines. The hand drawn style re-frames the pitch and the context in a lighthearted manner. (via Dooce)

I love seeing the contents of people’s bags. I never knew so many people carried hand cream and chapstick. Cameras, yes. And mints, me too! Join the Flickr group ”What’s In Your Bag?” and post your own.

The work of graffiti artist, Banksy (Robert Banks) is bold and subversive. He’s made a name with large street stencils and graffiti in England. He’s also a successful artist selling work for thousands of pounds, but his identity has been “fiercely guarded”. Apparently, a photo has emerged that perhaps shows the artist at work according to this BBC article. Whether or not we know what he looks like isn’t important. His work is everywhere. See the Flickr Banksy group for over 4,500 photos of his street art taken by people.

Yesterday, all across the U.S., thousands marched in protest to the war in Iraq. In San Francisco, “for three minutes the demonstrators lay on the pavement, representing what organizers said were more than 1 million Iraqis killed since the war began in 2003. The protesters then resumed their march from San Francisco’s Civic Center to Dolores Park...March organizers put their number at 30,000 - old, young, workers, students, religious leaders. They filled up Market Street for several blocks, shouting that U.S. troops should be brought home and carrying banners decrying the war.” More at SFGate.
