Apple’s $100 store credit offer for early iPhone buyers goes live today but based on this tweet by Timoni, it seems that eligibility depends on exact time of purchase. Exact as in 2 minutes later? That’s not cool, Steve!

To flesh out the story a bit: My coworker bought his iPhone just after I did, around noon on the 22nd.  His iPhone still mysteriously qualified for the rebate, and when he went to the Apple Store to double-check over lunch, they gave him the rebate anyway. (They also asked him to give them his rebate info so Apple could check it out.)

He was an existing Cingular customer and I’m new, so we were guessing it had something to do with activation dates--but who knows at this point?
