Solar-Powered Robot Mower
"Robot lawn mowers have been around for over a decade. What’s new this month, however, is a mower that not only trims the lawn all by itself, but does so using solar power. Sweden’s Husqvarna just introduced the world’s first solar/electric hybrid robot lawnmower, which has no exhaust emissions and uses approximately the same amount of energy as a standard light bulb. I can’t imagine that a light bulb pulls enough energy to equal what a lawn mower needs unless the blades are about 2 inches long.

The blades are closer to razor blades than traditional lawn mower blades. As the mower motor spins they are pulled out and cut. All of the motors are micro motors and require little power. There are other robot mowers that do not use any form of solar power and only cost 7-10 dollars a year in electricity to run, according to Georgia Power.
