Austin artist Lauren Levy's fabulous and compelling sculptures and textiles are almost fetishistic in their laboriously constructed compositions out of hundreds and hundreds of buttons. Her artwork is immediately engaging in its universality of motifs - death, joy, grief, sexuality, memory - all regular, everyday life experiences that bind us together. After years of creating mostly three-dimensional works out of buttons and wire, she's also now using buttons as a tool to "draw" objects onto fabric.
